Synthesis of 6-PEtN-α-D-GalpNAc-(1–>6)-β-D-Galp-(1–>4)-β-D-GlcpNAc-(1–>3)-β-D-Galp-(1–>4)-β-D-Glcp, a Haemophilus influenzae lipopolysacharide structure, and biotin and protein conjugates thereof

BACKGROUND In bacteria with truncated lipopolysaccharide structures, i.e., lacking the O-antigen polysaccharide part, core structures are exposed to the immune system upon infection and thus their use as carbohydrate surface antigens in glycoconjugate vaccines can be considered and investigated. One such suggested structure from Haemophilus influenzae LPS is the phosphorylated pentasaccharide 6...

Methyl 3-O-α-d-mannopyranosyl β-d-glucopyranoside tetrahydrate

The title compound, C(13)H(24)O(11)·4H(2)O, forms extended hydrogen-bonded networks. These are present between disaccharides, but not as inter-residue hydrogen bonds, as well as to water mol-ecules that in addition form an inter-molecular chain of hydrogen bonds. The conformation of the disaccharide is described by the glycosidic torsion angles ϕ(H) = -34° and ψ(H) = -5°. Macroscopically, the d...

20-O-β-d-Xylopyranosyl(1→6)-β-d-glucopyranosyl-20(S)-protopanaxadiol methanol solvate

The title compound, C(41)H(70)O(12)·CH(4)O, was prepared by microbial transformation. Within the steroid skeleton of the mol-ecule, three six-membered rings exhibit a chair conformation, while the five -membered ring adopts an envelope conformation. The two pyranosyl rings also adopt chair conformations. The mol-ecules are held together by an extensive O-H⋯O hydrogen-bonding network.

Methyl 3-O-α-l-fucopyranosyl β-d-glucopyranoside tetrahydrate

The title compound, C(13)H(24)O(10)·4H(2)O, is the methyl glycoside of a disaccharide structural element present in the backbone of the capsular polysaccharide from Klebsiella K1, which contains only three sugars and a substituent in the polysaccharide repeating unit. The conformation of the title disaccharide is described by the glycosidic torsion angles ϕ(H) = 51.1 (1)° and ψ(H) = 25.8 (1)°. ...

Synthesis of the O-linked hexasaccharide containing β-D-Galf-(1→2)-β-D-Galf in Trypanosoma cruzi mucins.

The hexasaccharide β-D-Galp-(1→2)-[β-D-Galp-(1→3)]-β-D-Galp-(1→6)-[β-D-Galf(1→2)-β-D-Galf(1→4)]-D-GlcNAc (1) is the largest carbohydrate structure released as alditol by reductive β-elimination from mucins of some strains of T. cruzi. The terminal β-D-Galp units are sites of sialylation by trans-sialidase which transfers sialic acid from the host to the parasite. Hexasaccharide 1 was synthesize...
